Dr. Phillip M. Campbell has been named the chairperson of the Department of Orthodontics at Texas A&M Health Science Center Baylor College of Dentistry effective March 1.

Campbell, a HSC-BCD alumnus and holder of the Robert E. Gaylord Endowed Chair in Orthodontics, has been an advocate of the dental school throughout his career.

A former member of the college’s board of trustees and the Baylor Oral Health Foundation board, he has championed several major fundraising efforts that have led to endowed chairs, lectureships and new facilities.

Campbell joined the HSC-BCD faculty in 2005 after maintaining a private practice for more than 30 years.

An exemplary teacher, he was presented with the Outstanding Teacher Award by the orthodontic program’s graduating class of 2009. Over his career he has authored more than 20 publications and has lectured extensively throughout Texas and the Southwest as well as serving the profession on a national level.
