Dr. Mari Koike presented two papers at the Materials and Medical Devices Conference and Exposition organized by The Minerals, Metals and Materials Society (TMS) in Palm Desert, California

Dr. Toru Okabe received the 2007 Science and Technology Award from the Japan TItanium Society in Tokyo, Japan, on November 5th and gave a presentation entitled "Development of Titanium for Dental Application at Baylor College of Dentistry."
Drs. Toru Okabe and Mari Koike attended The Sixth Pacific Rim International Conference on Advanced Materials and Processing in Jeju, Korea, November 6-9. They are the co-authors for the presentation, "Wear resistance of cast titanium alloy teeth" given by Dr. Chikahiro Ohkubo, Tsurumi University.

Dr. Waleed El-Shahawy joined the Department of Biomaterials Science on January 22nd from Mehalla Kubra, Egypt. He will be with the department for one to two years working on his doctoral thesis for Tanta University.
