Dental Hygienists Celebrate 50th Anniversary
A sold-out crowd of more than 180 alumni, staff and friends celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Caruth School of Dental Hygiene during a luncheon Jan. 20 at the Mabel Peters Caruth Center in Dallas. Contributions for the event, which benefits the Ausmus Laursen Dental Hygiene Scholarship, are still being accepted.
The luncheon was the kickoff event for a yearlong celebration of Baylor College of Dentistry's 100th Anniversary. Attendees came from as far away as California and Switzerland and included graduates Mary Katherine Gandy and Kathleen O'Neill-Smith, both former presidents of the American Dental Hygienists' Association, as well as four of six directors of the dental hygiene school.
Dianna Prachyl, manager of the dental clinic at Children's Medical Center of Dallas and the second Caruth graduate to receive a master's degree from the dental hygiene school, was the keynote speaker.
